Leadership Montgomery Expands Programming with Professional Training Opportunities

Professional development, race equity and nonprofit board service training available for individuals and businesses

Rockville, MDLeadership Montgomery (LM), a Montgomery County-based nonprofit connecting leaders working in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, now offers a menu of trainings and workshops focusing on professional development, race equity and nonprofit board service. The additional courses expand the organization’s existing programming which includes six programs; networking and educational events; and community impact work.

Professional development training consists of eight offerings including “Mastering the Virtual Workplace”, “Emotional Intelligence” and “Cultivating a Thriving and Engaged Organizational Culture”. The available training topics were developed in response to recurring topics that leaders were discussing in the leadership programs during their curriculum year.

The race equity training focuses on helping leaders to address and understand racism in the workplace.  Workshops include  “Let’s Talk About Race, “Dismantling Inequity in the Workplace” and the two-day “Racial Equity Workshop”, facilitated by the Race Equity Institute, a Greensboro, N.C. based organization assisting individuals explore perspectives on race.

Completing LM’s menu of professional trainings is BoardMatch Montgomery which trains local leaders wishing to serve on nonprofit boards and matches them to Montgomery County nonprofits looking for board members.

Trainings range from $149 to $1,000 per person and vary between half-day, full-day and two-day courses. Registration is currently open for many trainings and all trainings are available to schedule privately for large groups, businesses and organizations.  Prior enrollment in one of the organization’s six programs is not required for participation.
