FAQ
Leadership Montgomery is advancing Montgomery County through a network of more than 2,500 public, private and nonprofit leaders who share a commitment to making meaningful changes for a thriving community.
In existence for more than 30 years, LM educates, inspires, convenes and connects leaders through programs supported by a hands-on learning curriculum and service-based programs. Our graduates emerge better connected to people, organizations, and volunteer opportunities through improved understanding, services and relationships.
Currently, LM offers five programs; three experiential leadership programs and two community development programs that uniquely connect and engage leaders across all sectors and career stages.
By participating in one of our programs, you will join a network of passionate leaders who contribute considerable time, talent and energy to the betterment of our community. In addition, you will become more aware of the social and economic issues in Montgomery County, and develop a greater appreciation for all the county has to offer.
Our programs are specifically geared towards creating a thriving Montgomery County through a network of engaged leaders. We welcome anyone who has a desire to see our county succeed.
However, in order to participate in one of our 3 experiential leadership programs (CORE, Emerging Leaders or Senior Leadership Montgomery) all applicants must:
- Either live or work in Montgomery County.
- Be willing to commit the required time to the program.
- Have the support of their sponsoring organization.
- Demonstrate a commitment to strengthening our community.
Additional prerequisites may be required depending on program. For more information, please visit a specific program’s page.
Once an LM program is complete, participants utilize their LM experience to build a stronger county and have served on over one thousand boards, committees and commissions across in the county and region. Additionally, previous program participants have the option to continue engagement through an LM membership and enjoy offerings, trainings, events and benefits available only to them. They can also take advantage of another LM program and encourage their networks to become involved through one of our programs.
Previous program participants can remain involved through membership. LM hosts an average of 30 unique events per year including educational, political, volunteer, behind-the-scene and networking events that are exclusively for members. Membership also includes access to the LM Participant Directory, opportunities to showcase member businesses and limitless opportunities for personal and professional growth.
In addition, continued involvement can include participation in another LM program or serving as a speaker, facilitator or mentor for LM programs.
Leadership Montgomery is funded through tuition, membership dues, event registrations, and contributions. The leadership programs’ tuition covers less than half of the operating budget and we remain grateful to the individuals, businesses, and organizations that provide financial and in-kind support.
