LM Helps to Coordinate Discovery Communication’s Annual Impact Day

On Friday, September 20th, Leadership Montgomery’s (LM) Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) coordinated Discovery Communication’s Impact Day. Over 350 Discovery employees stepped away from their desks to participate in the company’s tenth annual day of employee volunteerism, “Discover Your Impact Day.”

The CVC coordinated all aspects of Discovery’s Impact Day by sourcing and providing 13 out-of-office service opportunities and three large in-office service opportunities that took place at Discovery’s Silver Spring headquarters. Discovery employees made a huge, positive Impact on 18 nonprofit organizations that serve over 2,000 individuals and families in Silver Spring, Columbia, Howard County, Sterling, Virginia and DC! Service projects included preparing meals for the homeless, revitalizing local parks and waterways, cleaning community centers, providing supplies for foster children across Montgomery County and the country, improving conditions at food pantries, providing respite for children facing serious illness, and much more.

As part of Discovery Impact, the company’s corporate social responsibility umbrella, Impact Day celebrates Discovery’s purpose-driven mission and provides employees with an opportunity to give back in the communities where they live and work. Check out all the highlights from the day!
