LEADERSHIP MONTGOMERY AND M&T BANK CONTINUE PARTNERSHIP FOR ANNUAL HOLIDAY DISTRIBUTION PARTY
PARTNERSHIP COLLECTS AND DISPERSES ITEMS TO FAMILIES AS PART OF COUNTY-WIDE HOLIDAY GIVING PROJECT
Rockville, MD—M&T Bank and Leadership Montgomery is once again partnering for their annual Holiday Giving Distribution Party which collects and disperses toys, cold weather gear and grocery staples to deserving residents in Montgomery County. 2019 marks the sixth year that the two organizations have collaborated to meet the needs of the community as part of the Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County.
For weeks, M&T Bank employees and Leadership Montgomery members collect toys for children of all ages. M&T also allows the community to join their collection efforts allowing them to drop-off toys at several of its Montgomery County branches.
Held at the Mid-County Community Recreation Center in Aspen Hill, items are displayed so that participating families can “shop” for toys and gifts. M&T employees and Leadership Montgomery members volunteer at the party serving as personal shopping assistants, gift wrappers and gift transporters. Their goal is to offer a fun, festive and free holiday “shopping” experience that includes cheerful holiday music and food.
In addition, M&T and other local businesses contribute toward the purchase of cold weather gear, grocery staples and holiday treats that are distributed to each family participating in the event.
Coordinated by The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, the Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County provides Thanksgiving and the December holiday assistance to low-income families. The county-wide effort is made up of a coalition of more than 20 non-profits, local governments, and faith groups who collect and distribute donations by ZIP Code. Leadership Montgomery and M&T Bank focuses their giving and collection efforts on the 20906 ZIP code, also known as the Kennedy Cluster Project.
The holiday collection functions as one of three annual community service projects (LM Serves Days) facilitated by Leadership Montgomery.
This year’s Holiday Giving Distribution Party is set for December 18. Leadership Montgomery’s Holiday Giving Project hopes to serve nearly 500 children and over 200 families during this year’s campaign. Toys are being collected now through Friday, December 13.
