Leadership Montgomery Kicks Off Holiday Giving Project
Leadership Montgomery is proud to connect our Members and friends to opportunities to support our local community through our quarterly LM serves days. Our Holiday Giving efforts connect us to the county-wide Holiday Giving Project where we partner with the Kennedy Cluster Project to support underserved families in an area of high need in Silver Spring. For more than 30 years, the Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County has helped residents in need celebrate Thanksgiving and the December holidays. A coalition of more than 20 non-profits, local government agencies, and faith groups volunteer to collect and distribute donations of holiday food, gift cards, or toys to recipients referred by social workers, school counselors, and other human service professionals. Thanks to our sponsor, M&T Bank, 100% of your donations will go to supporting these families with holiday gifts, grocery staples, and cold weather gear.
Our Holiday Giving Project culminates with a distribution party – and it is a party! We have festive decorations, music, refreshments, a craft room, and a pop-up “store” full of donated gifts for families to shop.
We encourage all LM Grads and Members to become involved in this initiative in one or more of the following ways:
- host a toy drive at your business or organization
- purchase a toy or gift to stock the store
- purchase a wish-list item online via Amazon and/or Target,
- make a financial contribution to support the purchase of grocery staples gift cards for each family we serve or;
- volunteer at our distribution party on December 18th.
