The Senior Leadership Montgomery Program engages one of the county’s greatest resources: its 55+ population. Through eight monthly sessions, program participants graduate with a deeper understanding of where they live, and meaningful new relationships with their classmates and other local leaders. The connections made can help participants become better engaged in their communities and make those communities better places now and for future generations.

Subject matter areas for the 2018-2019 program include:

  • Montgomery County 101
  • Civic Engagement
  • Real Estate Development and Transportation
  • Public Safety
  • Education
  • Arts

Experiential learning components include a guided bus tour of Montgomery County; a visit to MoCo’s Correctional Facility in Clarksburg and Public Safety Training Academy; and networking lunches with elected county officials.

55+ individuals who are either retired or close to retirement and interested in learning more about thier community and exploring new ways to engage their time and passions.

Graduates leave the program better informed of county history and present-day realities. Through the program, participants will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of on county issues
  • Create close and lasting friendships
  • Have access to a network of community leaders

Graduates emerge better connected to the people, organizations and service opportunities that can lead to meaningful changes in the county.

The 2018-2019 Senior Leadership Montgomery Program sessions occur once a month beginning on September 26, 2018 and ending on April 17, 2019.

The application deadline is April 13, 2018.

  1. Applicants must live or work in Montgomery County and be age 55+.
  2. Willingness to give time, energy, and experience to volunteer/community service.
  3. An ability to travel to various program sessions throughout the county.
  4. A completed and submitted application. Applications for the 2020 Class open January 2019

The full tuition cost for a single participant is $800 and tuition assistance is available.

Spouses/significant others are encouraged to apply and participate together; the full, discounted cost for both participants is $1,300.
