Senior Leadership Montgomery is a program for people 55+ who are seeking to deepen their civic engagement, their knowledge about the county and expand their community network. This program helps to answer the question, “What’s Next?” by informing, educating and connecting participants to the resources and expertise of other local leaders.
Once-per-month for eight months, participants engage in learning more about the place in which they live while developing significant and meaningful relationships with their classmates. The connections made can help participants become better engaged in their communities and make those communities better places for future generations.
Subject matter areas for the program include:
- Montgomery County 101
- Civic Engagement
- Safety Net
- Public Safety
- Education
- Arts
Experiential learning components include a guided bus tour of unique and history county sites; a 360 degree exploration of the education system; visit to MoCo’s Correctional Facility in Clarksburg and Public Safety Training Academy; nonprofit service projects; and networking lunches with elected county officials.
Graduates leave the program as part of an exclusive alumni network of more than 2,500 leaders who are better informed of county history and present-day realities. They also emerge better connected to the people, organizations, and service opportunities that can collectively move Montgomery County forward.
Our Graduates can expect:
- Gain a deep perspective on county issues
- Create close and lasting friendships
- Gain access to a network of community leaders
Where applicable, organizations supportive of their staff member’s participation can gain additional visibility and recognition as being committed to the improvement of Montgomery County as well as engaged employees with access to a network that can assist in helping businesses thrive.
