OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUITY AND INCLUSION

LM recognizes that equity is a leadership issue and that we cannot create a thriving county without understanding the disparities and inequities that keep people from prospering and flourishing. LM is the place where critical conversations and solution building can happen to facilitate actionable change.

LM allocates resources necessary to advance race equity while adopting anti-racist and intersectional approaches. We challenge ourselves to continue to grow as an antiracist organization and commit to the individual and organizational work necessary to accomplish this.

With an equity lens embedded across our organization, Leadership Montgomery serves as a guide to leaders who are exploring equity, diversity, and inclusion as part of their leadership through trainings and consulting.

Leadership Montgomery (LM) is an award-winning organization that supports public, private, and nonprofit leaders in Montgomery County, MD, and beyond. Connecting the community for over thirty years, LM is committed to unlocking the potential of cross-sector leaders in understanding and addressing complex issues in our region. Through curriculum-based leadership programs, meaningful alumni engagement, and impactful corporate activation, LM mobilizes leaders to build thriving and inclusive workplaces and communities.

LM activates and accelerates multi-sector leadership in our area through three key focus areas:

Leadership Programs:
LM offers four programs uniquely connecting public, private, and nonprofit leaders. Our Emerging Leaders (EL) program, for those looking to develop and grow their leadership capabilities; Our flagship Connecting Our Region’s Exes (CORE) program for established executives looking to expand their knowledge, influence, and effectiveness as a leader; Our Encore program, for retired or soon-to-be retired and looking to discover their post-professional leadership purpose; And our Race Equity Action Leadership (REAL Inclusion) program for those looking to build skills and structures to create and implement an organizational race equity plan.

Corporate Engagement:

With more than 30 years of critical forward-thinking work, LM  has the expertise to support businesses navigating the corporate engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR) landscape by promoting passionate engagement that will create a lasting and impactful legacy for Montgomery County. Through three distinct offerings, DEI Consulting, Leadership & Equity Training, and the Business Leaders Impact Council (BLIC), LM helps to ensure corporate responsibility programs are engrained to address culture change, adaptation, employee engagement, and business competitiveness.

Alumni Engagement:

LM provides all Leadership Program alumni the opportunity to deepen their engagement and impact after their program year. Engaged alumni have access to continue building their network, enhancing their professional development, and learning ways to improve the county. From access to other leaders through our alumni directory or events like Homecoming or The LEAD Forum, to continued training and service opportunities, LM provides the tools leaders need to impact the county.

We are the educators on county issues. We are the trainers of tomorrow’s leaders. We are the events and programs that connect the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Finally, we are the pathway to service in our community. Our members, participants, volunteers, sponsors, and partners are a representation of the diversity that has become a hallmark of the county.

By engaging with LM, you will have access to a network of passionate leaders who contribute considerable time, talent and energy to the betterment of the community.  In addition, you will become more aware of the social and economic forces and issues in Montgomery County, and you will develop a greater appreciation for all the County has to offer.

Program participants have the option to continue their alumni engagement and enjoy engagement perks that support their leadership journey.  They can also take advantage of another LM program and encourage their networks to become involved through one of our programs.

Since tuition covers less than half of the Leadership Montgomery operating budget, individuals, businesses and organizations that recognize Leadership Montgomery’s role in Montgomery County provide generous financial and in-kind support.

Leadership Montgomery welcomes program sponsors, program day hosts, event sponsors, donations from alumni and individuals and access to community engagement opportunities.

Leadership Montgomery maintains a collaborative relationship with area community leadership programs and is a member of the Association of Leadership Professionals.
