Harnessing the Power of Leadership:
LM Alumni Tackle Community Challenges Head-On
As a community leadership organization, Leadership Montgomery’s role is to convene leaders across communities representing diverse sectors, skills, and lived experiences to create better cultures and outcomes for people in Montgomery County.
Because we represent different areas, sectors, and backgrounds, we have an opportunity to work with these varying perspectives and tackle challenges in our community. Based on feedback from our alumni, we are excited to bring back the Leadership Solves convening.
The idea for Leadership Solves was born when we overheard a county councilmember and LM alumnus say, “If there is a challenge in Montgomery County, get a group of LM alums in the room, and they will solve it.” We embraced this idea and created an opportunity to gather our amazing alumni network, focus on a community challenge, and work with subject matter experts to create action toward systems change and the reduction of disparities.
Last year, the network gathered to discuss economic development challenges in the county.
Join us on November 13 and represent your small business, corporate entity, hyperlocal community, nonprofit, or public sector at the first discussion around #ClimateChange.
And if you’re thinking, “Climate change is not relevant to my sector or community,” think again. While often overused as a ‘buzzword,’ climate change affects more than the environment. Subject matter experts will discuss how climate change impacts healthcare, equity, economic growth, and the agriculture industry. We will break into small groups to discuss how to use our diverse and collective strengths to break down barriers and create positive change.
We will meet a second time in the spring to regroup and hear from a new group of subject matters on how to bring those ideas into action.
This is a big issue to tackle. But by engaging in purposeful connections and community building, we can foster a thriving and inclusive community.
So, the question is: Will you represent your sector? Join us on November 13.
