Favorite LM memory:
My best experiences with Leadership Montgomery have been the opportunity to connect with people, learn about their stories and to create lasting friendships.
I remember fondly a long conversation with Monica Escalante during our closing retreat. She talked to me about growing up in Bolivia, and the limited choices at grocery stores. When buying bread there was only one option, white bread. Everytime I shop and see the immense variety of bread choices rye, thin wheat, pumpernickel, multigrain, etc. I always think back to the shelves in Bolivia and my friendship with Monica. I’m grateful for all of the people I have met and continue to meet through Leadership Montgomery who have been a source of support personally and professionally.
Favorite way to spend your free time/recharge:
- Baseball games, especially the Baltimore Orioles
- Time with friends
- Western Maryland Getaways
- Boutique Shopping
- NOT cooking
Name a leader that inspires you:
Michelle Obama, 44th First Lady of the United States, focused her attention on issues including the support of military families, education, helping working women balance career and family and encouraging community service.
Passionate about healthy eating, she worked with fifth graders to build a vegetable garden and install beehives on the South Lawn of the White House. She created the program Let’s Move to fight childhood obesity and get the country excited about exercise.
Michelle Obama showed us all that she could be First Lady, fashion icon, devoted wife and mother with a sense of humor and purpose.
